Friendship is intergenerational as Emmerton Park’s latest program is showing.

A new program at the aged care home emphasises social interaction and connection between young and old.

Organiser Brianna Hite says the idea sparked when someone close to her heart stopped by to visit her at work one day.

“My nephew came in one day,” she says, and stole the show.

“The residents respond really well to having children around, you can see by their faces that it just brightens their day when they see a little one.”

And so, Brianna with friend Megan Doel organised friends and family to bring their little tykes in for a playdate last month.

It’s a chance for new mums to get out of the house too, says Brianna.

Open to mums, dads and children of all ages, you can stop in for 10 minutes or stay for an hour to enjoy a cuppa and conversation. Games and toys are there for community members of all ages to enjoy.

The next gathering will be on Wednesday January 23 from 10am to 11am. To find out more phone Emmerton Park on 6452 9400.
