Local not-for-profit Treasure Chest are set to reopen on June 29 after COVID-19 forced the doors closed early this year.

Donations are being accepted again from June 22nd, to allow for quarantine, with a few new rules and regulations.

Manager Keith Saward says that donations will still be collected out the back, but requests that only saleable and clean items are donated.

As a COVID safety measure, all donations will go through a week long quarantine to ensure they are virus free.

“We are starting donations a week early,” said Keith.

Donations are appreciated within shop hours, Monday through Friday from 9 to 4.

Within the shop itself it will be business as usual, with Keith asking that customers respect social distancing laws and maintain basic personal hygiene to minimise the risk of infection.

Eagerly looking forward to reopening the doors, Keith was thankful for the continued support of the community despite the doors being closed, as well as thankful for the efforts of the Circular Head Council.

Without being asked council took the initiative to install a temporary fence around the rear entrance of the facility to discourage donations, which would have been unable to be accepted.

In a post on Facebook Keith writes “we would also appreciate it for those that have room to store their donations to hold them a little longer until we are back up and running.”

“We value your support in respecting our requirements.”
