Full Gear ahead for motorcycle learners

Seven young Circular Head residents have passed their Motorcycle Learners Test, compliments of the Tasmanian Government’s Full Gear Program. The Full Gear Program is designed to help keep Tasmanian roads safe thanks to the support of the Community Road Safety Grants and provides participants with comprehensive motorcycle safety training to help them understand the risks and responsibilities of riding a motorcycle and sharing the road. Initially created in the south of the state, the program expanded to the north of the state, before a stroke of luck allowed seven young Circular Head motorcycle enthusiasts the opportunity to complete the program. The program would normally run for six weeks however due to the distance for the instructor, they reduced it to three weeks. Circular Head participants travelled to East Devonport to complete the course where they were required to stay overnight.

Circular Head Aboriginal Corporation Learner Driver Mentor, Krystle House said, “It was big on the students because they’re away from home and by the end of it they were exhausted and ready to go home, but to see their faces once they had passed, it was definitely all worth it.”
