International Women’s Day was held on Wednesday March 8 and Circular Head folk celebrated with a breakfast at the Smithton Rec, courtesy of Soroptimist International of Circular Head, Circular Head Council and Jenski Restaurant and Café. Pancakes were hot and fruit was fresh as Shayla and Breah Guest performed to open the event. CHAC Chairperson, Selina Colgrave welcomed attendees to country before guest speaker, Circular Head Council General Manager Vanessa Adams, took to the podium to share her incredible journey from spending time in Moscow as a member of Her Majesty’s Diplomatic Service at the height of the Cold War, working in state and local government nationally and internationally, before landing as the General Manager of the Circular Head Council in 2022.
