Tasmania is facing significant disruptions as severe weather continues to hammer the state, causing widespread power outages, flooding, and property damage. Since Tuesday September 3, a powerful weather system has unleashed intense storms, with conditions worsening over the past week.
As of Sunday night, September 1, approximately 47,000 properties across northern and north western Tasmania were reported to be without power. By Monday, the situation had deteriorated further, with 13,000 homes and businesses in the north west region still without electricity.
With the power being constantly switched on and off since the beginning of the storm, TasNetworks has estimated that power restoration could take up to five days due to the extent of the damage.
